Mazda MX-5 winner joined Brian Chandler on track day

On Friday 6th March John Williams, the winner of our MX-5 competition last year, joined Lancaster Insurance and Brian Chandler at Donington Park to test the Mazda at one of the most internationally renowned and historically significant circuits in the world.
As part of his winners package, which also included a year’s free classic car insurance, John received track tuition from Brian Chandler, who is sponsored by Lancaster Insurance and has an ARDS instructor license.
The day included Brian giving John some initial tuition in the prize car before sending him off for some solo laps. John also had a drive in Brian’s Mk1 race car as well as his Mk3 race car.
John comments: “It was my first time on track with the Roadster and it did not disappoint. There is truly no feeling like it when you are going round the circuit, through the chicanes and crossing the finish line. I had a superb day and learnt a lot – thank you to all involved.”
Dave Youngs, Car Club Manager at Lancaster Insurance, comments: “ It was fantastic to see John take to the track and see what the car could do – hopefully it’s the start of some great adventures for them!”
