2019 sees the 30^th anniversary of the MX-5 and Lancaster Insurance were proud to be headline sponsors for the MX-5 Owners Club celebrations. This year also sees the Owners Club mark their 25^th anniversary, so last weekend’s National Rally was one not be missed!

With a weekend of wonderful weather, there was something for everyone during the two day celebrations. Saturday’s programme included drive-outs to Caffeine and Machine, a circuit driving challenge and to finish the day, a drive in movie!

The anniversary rally was held on the Sunday at the prestigious British Motor Museum and the day was jam packed with workshops and club displays. There was also nail biting MX-5 stunt displays from Stuntdrive UK and TV’s Vicki Butler Henderson and Car Throttle’s Alex Kersten went head to head in a celebrity challenge!

Tom Matano, designer of the Mazda Miata - or MX-5 as it’s known in the UK, made an appearance as the VIP Guest. The Lancaster Insurance team had the pleasure of meeting ‘Mr. Miata’ and our own MX-5 now has his autograph proudly displayed on the underside of the bonnet. We believe this is the only non ’89 car he has ever signed! Mr Miata also took the time to sign many other lucky attendee’s cars – this certainly put a huge smile on a lot of faces.

The show was a great way for us to meet many existing, and hopefully new, customers as well as being able to chat with the Mission Motorsport stand. The effort put into this show was incredible and proved what an amazing community the MX5OC have built up.

Lancaster Insurance were proud sponsors of the awards and Dave Youngs, Car Club Manager, and his trusted sidekick Moose helped with the presentation. They were four different categories; Standard Cars, Lightly Modified, Modified and Daily Driver Classes as well as the Unsung Hero award. Watching the presentation truly topped off another magnificent day for all!
