Classics World Roadtrip Day 3

On the final day of our road trip, we arrived in the A30’s true home, Cornwall. Traversing from the rolling hills of Devon to the stark expanse of Bodmin Moor, through the Cornish picturesque villages our journey was nearing it’s end.
The road ends at Lands End where the four cars pulled in for the must have photo and for the road-weary drivers to have a well-earned rest!
Travelling with car enthusiasts meant at times it was an automotive version of the Big Bang theory, but a thoroughly enjoyable trip nonetheless and Hayley, one of our Marketing Executives, did impress the team with our knowledge of welded versus open differentials!
Amazingly all four 30 year old cars made it without any mechanical issues – it must be due to good ‘Car-ma’.
The four cars making the journey were as follows:

- Land Rover Discovery (the same model of which was launched at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show). This model used the Rover 3500 V8 engine rather than the more economical 2.5 litre Diesel engine interestingly, this was initially launched as a 3 door model.
- Rover 216 (which we all know uses a Honda engine)
- Citroen XM which measures almost 5m long and is only really loved by hard core Citroen enthusiasts due to its questionable reputation for reliability particularly when It comes to its hydro pneumatic suspension. At Lancaster we love the unconventional and it was very welcome on this trip!
