On Christmas Eve, members of the Biggleswade Community Fire Station alongside some of the Lancaster Insurance team visited the Riverbank Ward at Bedford Hospital, giving out Fire Fighter Charity Blaze Bears to the children who would be spending the festive period there.
Ten people took part in the visit, and amongst them was Andre Whitty who as well as working for Lancaster Insurance for over ten years is also a retained firefighter at Biggleswade Community Fire Station. During the visit, the team spent time with the children and their families and gave out 20 teddy bears and left a supply for new patients to enjoy in the future.
Andrew Evanson, Senior Operations at Lancaster Insurance who donated the teddy bears, comments: “We’re passionate about supporting local charity initiatives and when Andre told us what the Biggleswade Community Fire Station were planning we knew that we wanted to help where we could. A number of our team have said that seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and the experience will stay with them forever.”
