Club of the Month – The Gay Classic Car Group

The Gay Classic Car Group was founded in 1988 when a few friends would meet informally at a pub in London and today, it has over 1,000 members!

Members’ cars are increasingly diverse and range from 1905 right up to modern day classics. The national club has held over 60 events per year in recent years, ranging from visits to places of interest including National Trust properties and car museums to putting on two camping weekends. You don’t have to own a classic car as all enthusiasts are welcome to join and attend events!

In March, the Gay Classic Car Group will be returning to the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show with Discovery at the NEC. The Group are shortlisted for a number of National Car Club Awards, which will be announced on Saturday 23rd March, and they will also be exhibiting in Hall 5.

Darren Mitcham from the Club comments: “We’re over the moon to have been selected as Lancaster’s Club of Month, what a way to start 2019! We’ve got another exciting year ahead, starting off with returning to the NEC for the season opener at the end of March and we can’t wait. Come along to our stand to see a Morris Marina gearbox being removed and replaced; a barn find Humber that hasn't see daylight for 40 years and a grandfather's Vauxhall Wyvern that was rediscovered by his grandson 50 years after he last sold it!”

Additional membership benefits include their quarterly full-colour magazine “Big End”, monthly “All Torque” emails to highlight the latest events, and access to events listings. For more information visit their website or social media pages – links below!
