Hyundai Coupe Cup - Alex Cursley Review of Snetterton

Rounds 6 and 7 of the Hyundai Coupe Cup were held at a sunny Snetterton.
We had made a lot of changes to the car to in order to get back on the pace and at this stage of the season we were still without a win.
I qualified for the Lancaster Insurance coupe 3rd on the grid, 1.3 seconds a lap quicker than 4th but still over two seconds off of the pole sitters lap time. Right end of the grid, but still more work to do.
In race one we all got off to a clean start as I followed the front running Kite and Rockett and was to stay within striking distance as they battled for the lead. My chance to take second place came as Wayne Rockett ran his car wide as he entered the Bentley straight, from then on he was unable to make an attempt to regain his place. This left me chasing for the lead but unable to make any impact on the well managed 2 second gap to Steve Kite.
Race 2 saw me start on the front row and with a slightly better start than Kite, I managed to creep into the lead and cover it into the Wilson hairpin. This lead was short lived however, as a lap later Kite made a superb move into the Esses and few laps later Rockett dived into the Wilson hairpin to take second place. I tried an extreme setup which worked initially but ultimately limited the tyres performance towards the end of the race leaving me to finish on the podium in third place.
However since we have returned from Snetterton and started the preparation for the next round at Mallory Park on the 28th May (bank holiday Monday) we believe we have found the true chassis gremlin. This we have carried from the media day in February at Rockingham right up until right now mid season.
I say this every time but I’ve got a good feeling about this.
