Following the Royal wedding last weekend, organisers of the Lancaster Insurance Classic & Supercars Show are continuing to celebrate and are thrilled to welcome to the show a 1953 Land Rover Series 1 which has royal connections of its own!
Loaned by British Motor Museum at Gaydon, the vehicle was part of a fleet which accompanied the Queen and Prince Philip on a six month Commonwealth tour soon after the coronation. This Land Rover was specially adapted for use from the basic 86 inch wheelbase model and was the first of the bespoke royal Land Rovers, being known as State IV.
Andrew Evanson, Senior Operations Manager at Lancaster Insurance, comments: “The whole nation has been swept up with ‘Royal fever’ and what better way to carry on the great feeling, than announcing a former Royal vehicle will be at the show. With Land Rover being the show’s marque feature, there’ll certainly be a diverse range on show and this particular one has a fascinating history!”
This prestigious charity event, now in its 15th year, is regarded as one of the premier classic and supercar shows in the South of England. More than 2,000 vehicles will be exhibited including vintage, classic, rally, race, supercars, American, custom and hot rods. There will be over 150 trade, craft and autojumble stands plus a Charterhouse car auction, live music in the catering village, amusements for children and beautiful picnic places.
The show supports national and local charities and has raised £130,000 over the past four years. For more information about the show visit www.classic-supercars.co.uk or email classicandsupercars@gmail.com.
