Enthusiasts are invited to enter their classic car into the coveted Autumn Final of the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership, held at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, at Birmingham’s NEC from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 November.
Open to classic cars manufactured before the year 2000, just 20 vehicles will be selected for the grand finale display at the November show where the public will vote for their favourite and decide who lifts the trophy.
The competition is not a concours, and whilst the standard of the car is obviously important, it’s the story the owner and the car have shared that will also be taken into consideration by the selecting panel.
Andrew Evanson, Senior Operations Manager of Lancaster Insurance, sponsors of the Pride of Ownership, said: “Over the years, the display has established itself as a key feature of the show and a real highlight for many visitors and we’re thrilled to be supporting it once again.”
Since its launch in November 2015, the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership has seen six winners crowned at the Autumn and Spring finals. The inaugural event was won by Steve Mills’ skiff bodied 1926 Packard 420, followed by Stuart Turp’s 1969 Ford Capri Mk1, James Cribb’s 1989 Austin Metro City, Keith Edmund’s 1972 Triumph Spitfire, Simon McNamara’s 1983 VW Golf GTi Mk1, and most recently Paul Clappison’s 1972 MGB GT.
Andrew continues: “There’s been some amazing examples showcased and even though the bar has been set high, we know there’s some real gems out there waiting for their time to shine.”
The winner and two runners up all receive trophies, with the overall winner offered the chance to display their car at the next event held by the organisers – as well as the obvious bragging rights.
All finalists receive two tickets for each of the show days, free parking throughout and a commemorative certificate.
