Alex Cursley Hyundai Coupe Cup 2018 Round 1 and 2 Review

Our 2018 Hyundai Coupe Cup kicked off at Silverstone on 24th-25th March 2018, with the first two rounds held on a very wet national circuit. After hustling for pole position in qualifying and ultimately getting 2nd for race one, I was confident I had the pace to defend my 2017 Coupe Cup crown.
After starting on the front row for race one, I managed to put a nose in the lead before falling back to 2nd place from Steve Kite. Kite went on to win without further challenge and even though I was struggling for race pace, I managed to hang on to 2nd place.
I had another good start for race two but soon fell back after making some set up changes to suit the wet conditions and it soon became apparent that I had to switch into damage limitation mode. Watching Kite pull away again to take the lead and another win, I was left to deal with Wayne Rockett and Co. This time missing out on a podium and coming home in 4th place.
A difficult weekend all in all but I feel it was a one off and I can get back right to the sharp end as we head to Pembrey in Wales to support the BTRC truck racing on 21st - 22nd April 2018.
