To celebrate the ‘Family Ties’ theme of this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, two Williams F1 cars driven by one of the most famous father/son dynasties in the history of the sport will be on display at the NEC show, held 10-12 November.

Motor Sport Magazine, in partnership with Williams Heritage, will present the FW08, driven by Keke Rosberg, alongside the FW30 that was driven by his son Nico Rosberg.

Both father and son won the World Championship in their brilliant careers.

In 1982 Keke won the driver’s crown and countless enthusiasts will never forget the sight of his FW08 crossing the finishing line in fifth place at the Caesars Palace Grand Prix to seal his world title.

Rosberg Snr once modestly described that season as one in which he had gone ‘from zero to hero’, during which time he ‘drove every lap flat out’ -  from victory in the Swiss Grand Prix to his feats at Las Vegas.

The FW08 combined a ground effect chassis with Cosworth DFV power, and Keke’s triumph was a glorious swansong for the final days of the pre-turbo era as the final World Championship win for the famous engine that dated back to 1967.

Joining the FW08 will be the car that famously gave Nico Rosberg his first career podium in 2008.

The FW30 is regarded as an example of cutting edge aerodynamics in motor racing prior to the major F1 regulation change in 2009.

In the opening race of the season, the Australian Grand Prix, Nico took third place and in September 2008 finished second at the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix in front of the McLaren-Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton.

There is also the ‘Family Ties’ connection at Williams Heritage as Jonathan Williams is at the helm, carrying on the legacy that was started by his father Sir Frank Williams.

And so, whether you are of an age to remember the heyday of the racer once described by Murray Walker as ‘The Original Flying Finn’, have vivid memories of watching the 23-year-old Nico, or simply wish to pay homage to such iconic machinery, the Motor Sport stand in Hall 1 promises to be one of the highlights of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery.
