The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, returns to Birmingham’s NEC from 10 - 12 November with some incredible ‘show stopping’ cars curtesy of the exhibiting clubs including four very desirable forms of performance car. 

The joint Renault Alpine Club/Club Alpine Renault UK Ltd. stand will showcase the latest version of the Alpine A110, which marks the revival of the famous brand, alongside with its celebrated predecessor, the A110 Berlinette.

The Quattro Owners’ Club plans to illustrate the family heritage of this iconic Audi to tie into the show theme of ‘Family Ties’.

The strand will feature an Iltis, the 4WD military vehicle that was the partial inspiration for the Quattro, together with an early 1982 model, a Sport Quattro, a Rally Sport Quattro, and an RS2, the joint Audi-Porsche project that was one of the greatest cars of the 1990s.

An equally tremendous display is being arranged by the De Dion Bouton Club UK, who are making their debut appearance at the show.

The original British motor race of 1897 in Richmond Park was staged with De Dion Boutons and their motor trikes dominated the early years of the sport.

The club plans to bring a priceless selection of these earliest of all race vehicles of to the show and there will also be the unique opportunity to see the trophy from the very first British Motor Racing Championship of 1899. 

And of course, some of the most popular attractions of the show are those once-familiar sights that have now virtually disappeared from our roads.

This year the Lada & FSO Owners’ Club UK will be displaying the last-ever Caro hatchback in addition to a rather different form of Riva saloon.

Back in 2002, a team of ten Lotus engineers took 1000 hours to convert a standard 1996 Riva into a £100,000 sports saloon for Top Gear. The club will be bringing a replica that is ‘even better’ than the BBC car; a Lada guaranteed to impress all who encounter it.

So, whether your interests in sporting machinery tends to mid-engined GTs, record-breaking 4x4 coupes, pioneers of British motor sport or possibly the fastest Lada in motoring history, no visitor to the NEC should miss the chance to experience these truly exceptional cars.
