We headed off to Snetterton for rounds 3 and 4 of the Hyundai Coupe Cup with the hope of more of sustaining the success we enjoyed at Silverstone in our Lancaster Insurance Coupe. Snetterton has always felt like home to me, however it presents more of a challenge than Silverstone.

As in the previous round, I started qualifying by spending a good few laps warming the car up gently whilst finding track space ready to go for a quick lap. Unfortunately the session was red flagged before I could do so after another car had "an off". With six minutes remaining in the session I acted quickly and got straight down to business, putting the car on pole, a second clear of the field.

In race 1, I started from the best seat in the house. James Goodwin was in the number two spot and got a better start, momentarily taking the lead but being on the outside for turn one, I was soon sorted back into the pack. Once the first lap shuffling had settled down, I found myself in the lead but with classic hot rod racer, Steve Kite, putting the pressure on for the entire race. However, without any serious threat of an overtake the Lancaster Insurance Coupe took win number three out of three races of the season.

Race 2 saw my most eager rivals move closer to me on the grid and once again Steve Kite was in my rear view mirror. At just past mid race distance I began to pull a safe gap only to make a small lock up into the Agostini hairpin. This was Kite’s opportunity to snatch the lead and despite my best efforts I was unable to take it back eventually finishing just 0.15 seconds behind him on the finish line.

After four races it is safe to say that we are still enjoying a blinding start to the season. Next we are off the fastest track in the UK, Thruxton where the Hyundai Coupe Cup will both join the MGOC Championship to support the British Trucks at the beginning of June.
