Club of the Month is always a very difficult feature for us to decide as there are always so many worthy recipients! This month’s was unanimously decided and has been awarded to ‘Yeovil Car Club’, a club we met at the Lancaster Insurance Classic and Supercar Show at Sherborne Castle, which took place last weekend.
Clubs are at the very heart of our business, so in addition to being headline sponsors we also supported three awards for the car clubs exhibiting at the show. Our Car Club Manager and Senior Operations Manager discreetly judged over 20 of the attending clubs on various factors, such as the layout of the stand, the variety of vehicles on show and, not least, the hospitality and welcome that they received when visiting each club. For us, there was a clear winner and 1st prize went to Yeovil Car Club, not least for the warm welcome received from members attending the show and for the fantastic array of vehicles on show.
Yeovil Car Club in its present format was formed in 1949 by a group of local business men, originally for the enjoyment of motor sport. Over the years, this was expanded to include many other aspects for the motoring enthusiast; classic and vintage tours, treasure hunts and navigation runs, car shows and radio marshalls travelling across the country providing support to rallies and, of course, the social calendar.
