End of year message from Andrew Evanson

What an incredible year 2017 has been; we’ve worked with two of the classic car community heavyweights on a great charity initiative, supported more shows and expanded our offering.

On a personal note, this marks my first full year at the helm of Lancaster Insurance and I would like to personally thank everyone for their support. I’ve been with Lancaster for over 15 years and our passion, aside from classic cars, is ensuring we provide the best service we possibly can and we continually monitor the market to enable us to amend our schemes so they reflect the trends and needs of our customers.

I alluded to it earlier but a definite highlight has been working with Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead on our charity initiative #ClassicRumble. We launched back in April and from then on it was full steam ahead with Mike and his team restoring a 1989 XR3i in aid of Marie Crawford Boyd Foundation and Ant and his team building from scratch a 1950s Grand Prix inspired racer in aid of Harrison’s Fund.

Throughout the year, the passion and generosity of the classic car industry has been overwhelming with companies and individuals donating their time and services. The NEC auction was jam packed and we’re thrilled that both made £22,500 for their respective charities after Silverstone Auctions waivered their usual fee - an incredible result! It was an emotional project with a genuine ‘lump in your throat moment’ and truly made me feel so lucky to be a part of such a fantastic community

We’ve also supported a number of new events this year such as ‘Classics at the Castle’ taking place at Sherborne Castle in July and ‘Classic Ford Show’ which was at Santa Pod in June. We thoroughly enjoyed both, it was great to meet so many of you.

The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show with Discovery was also a true highlight! It’s such a special weekend for us and we embraced the show theme ‘’Family Ties’ with a stunning array of cars on our stand, including the millionth Morris Minor and a stunning 1925 Bentley! I also joined Mike, Ant and Nick Whale from Silverstone Auctions on the Discovery Live Stage daily, something which I thoroughly enjoyed as it gave me the opportunity to talk about our #ClassicRumble and drum up support for the initiative from show visitors.  On the Sunday, it was an absolute pleasure to present the awards at the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership stand with Ant Anstead. The display always showcases the passion and dedication of our industry and a huge well done to all who took part, especially Simon McNamara who took pole position and topped off a fantastic weekend!

I also want to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Here’s to an exciting 2018 – watch this space!

Thanks,
Andrew
