Wroxall Abbey Hotel & Estate: A Car Club Friendly Venue
Supported by enthusiast owners, Wroxall Abbey Hotel has a growing reputation for planning and accommodating events for motoring clubs. They’ve played host to impressive National Days with exclusive use of the Estate, right the way through to intimate Club Regional Christmas dinners catered for in their award-winning Sonnets restaurant.
Whether it's a Club Meet, the all important AGM, a hands-on technical session or an Anniversary dinner, Wroxall has something to offer every enthusiast motoring club whether large or small, four wheels or two, modern or old!
It all began in 2012, when owner Grant Howlett hosted the hotel’s first Classic Car meet for the MG Magnette Register of the MG Car Club, of which he is a member. The event was a huge success and as word got out, more clubs decided they wanted the Wroxall experience for themselves. Over the next year Wroxall played host to large National weekends for the Riley Register, Austin Ten Drivers Club and Jaguar Drivers Club, as well as hosting regular AGMs & Award Dinners for clubs such as 500 Owners Association and 1000cc F3 Historic Racing.
As demand started to grow it was decided in 2014 it to create a ‘Wheels Team’.
Grant appointed Gemma Williams as the key Car Club Events Coordinator for the Hotel, and Andrea Seed from Poppyseed Media, who both set about getting more exposure in the Classic Car World. And boy did it work!
Wroxall has now hosted over 60 Car Club Events for clubs like the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, BMW Car Club, Lamborghini Club UK, Giulietta Register, MG C Register, mkIV Supra Owners, Sunbeam Tiger Owners, Panther Car Club and the Figaro Owners Club. The list goes on!
The estate has also hosted Guest Speaker Nights & Technical Sessions with celebrities such as Fuzz Townshend and Norman Dewis, and now offers a full range of motoring packages for the enthusiast.
So why does the estate work so well?
Wroxall is situated in the heart of England and nestled amongst 27 acres of parkland, yet right at the centre of the motorway network. For drivers wishing to arrive relaxed and in the right frame of mind the estate is accessed via the idyllic, picture perfect routes of Warwickshire. The journey itself provides the perfect start to any Classic Vehicle event.
With 72 individually styled bedrooms on site and multiple function rooms and conference & dining areas the hotel and grounds can cater for up to 600 people and offers flexible display spaces including a well-drained 5 acre show field and plenty of photograph opportunities.
There are even pre-planned Tulip routes available to guests and the Wroxall team can recommend activities for the ladies to keep them entertained too.
The staff at Wroxall understand what makes Car Clubs and their members tick, and the Wroxall Wheels Team is managed by like-minded people. And with over 60 car events under their belt since 2012, they’re well established in their field.
Wroxall Court
Perfect for Club AGMs, informal BBQs or Small Gatherings, the listed courtyard building and historic Clock Tower provides a delightful setting. Offering a bespoke function room providing all of the latest technology, Bar and 24 bedrooms, it's the ideal layout for such events. As the name suggests, the buildings surround an attractive courtyard which can be used as the perfect place to display vehicles or to run club restoration & technical sessions.
The Mansion
The majestic Grade II listed Mansion building is the ideal setting for club events. The restaurants can be used separately or opened up into one larger dining room, giving direct access onto the terrace which command unspoilt views over the grounds and surrounding countryside. It is perfect for special celebrations, awards and gala dinners.
The bar and lounge, also give direct access onto the Terrace and are ideal for a pre-event receptions and after dinner drinks, complete with log fire for those cold winter months.
The Vaults Suite offers a superb and unique addition to the venue and is perfect for Club Pub Quizzes and parties.
Vaults Bar and the connecting function suites can be decorated with your club livery, and you can even add your club brand to one of the estate’s fine WroxAle Real Ales to honour a special event or anniversary.
The Marquee & Grounds
The grand marquee is perfect for large award ceremonies, gala dinners and gatherings, and can also double as a traders & refreshments area on show days, being situated right next to the show field.
