With the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show just a few weeks away it is only fitting that we dedicate our November ‘Club of the Month’ to one of the shows biggest attractions, The Sporting Bears Motor Club.

Regulars of the show will know that one of the most popular, and busiest, areas of the show is the Sporting Bears arena, where you could see anything from a humble little Fiat 500 to the latest Hyper Car giving passenger rides to members of the public.

To give you a brief history of the Sporting Bears, we have included an excerpt from the club's website:

‘The "Bears", as we are affectionately known, are a dedicated group of classic car and sports car enthusiasts with the primary aim - to raise money for children's charities through our own social and touring events, and to support other charitable events. It is to the club's credit that annual subscriptions support the club overheads thus allowing all monies raised from Dream Rides and other events to be directed towards the selected charities.  Since the Club was formed in 1989 we have been very active and have raised over £1,500,000 for children's charities in the UK’

Whilst this gives an idea of what the Bears are about, it really doesn’t highlight just how dedicated the club and its members are to raising money for charity.

The club raise money by offering passenger rides (Dream Rides) in their members’ cars at events around the UK, throughout the year.  Members of the public can choose from a number of cars on display at the event and pay a charitable donation to the club for a ride in their chosen vehicle.

What makes the clubs members so unique is that they offer the passenger rides out of the goodness of their heart.  They receive no expenses for attending the events or for giving out passenger rides, instead allowing others to share their motoring passion whilst raising large sums of money for worthwhile causes.

Lancaster are proud to be the official insurance partner of the Sporting Bears and we can’t wait to see their array of cars on display at this year’s show, so if you’ve always dreamed of being chauffeur driven in a British classic or fancy a spin in a car with Italian flair, visit the show between the 11^th – 13^th November 2016 at the NEC Birmingham and help the Bears reach their fundraising goal. The club have got something special lined up this year with the appearance, on the Saturday and Sunday, of a Pagani Huayra hypercar, 1 of only 5 in the UK, giving you the opportunity to have a ride for a donation of just £250. As you can imagine, with a car value at £1.5m, passenger rides will be weather dependant. In addition they will be raffling of a dream ride every day, with 100 tickets available at £20 each.
