1,000mph BLOODHOUND Supersonic Car to take centre stage on the Lancaster Insurance stand at the Classic Motor Show

Lancaster Insurance, headline sponsor of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, has announced a ‘Best of British’ focus on its stand, with the iconic BLOODHOUND SSC show car taking pride of place.

Show attendees will also be able to see a variety of exceptional classic models on the stand, each with their own unique story.

Cars such as the Thrust SSC and the Bluebird have achieved the accolade over the last 100 years and The BLOODHOUND Team will attempt to join them by breaking 1000mph in South Africa, 2018. The car is an impressive 12.5 metres in length and three metres in height, and with a Eurofighter Typhoon jet engine, a cluster of hybrid rockets and Jaguar V8 to drive its rocket fuel pump, it’s truly heroic.

A printed timeline will also run alongside the BLOODHOUND SSC show car to highlight the history of the cars, starting from Donald Campbell’s 1964 World Speed Record right through to the 2018 attempt.

Richard Morley, Operations Director at Lancaster Insurance, comments: “‘Best of British’ allows us to celebrate cars through the ages and we’re incredibly excited and honoured to have BLOODHOUND on our stand. Each vehicle we’re showcasing has a great story, including a police car which used to chase 100mph bikers up and down the A1. Not quite sure they’d be able to keep up with the BLOODHOUND though!”

The specialist classic car insurer will also be auctioning the recently restored 1969 Morris Mini Super Deluxe at the show. In aid of Prostate Cancer UK, Margo, as she’s affectionately known, will be auctioned through Silverstone Auctions on Saturday 12th November 2016, with all proceeds going to the charity. The Mini will be on the Silverstone Auctions stand at the event.
