With spring finally here and summer on the horizon, now is the perfect time to look at buying a soft-top for some summer fun.
Whether you prefer your classic car to have a dash of the high-life, sporty, quirky & fun, stylish or big & brash, we think we’ve found 10 cars that will compliment your lifestyle. From turning up at a country house to driving some of the great ‘B’ roads of the UK to turning up at the beach or a festival, there really is a convertible for all.
- Mazda MX-5
Mazda re-defined the 2-seater sports car with the introduction of the MX-5 in 1989. The MX-5 is a true driver’s car and perfect for track days and the open road.
- MGB EX234 Prototype Roadster
You’d be forgiven for thinking this is an early Series 2 Alfa Romeo Spider 1750 Veloce. With the addition of some very stylish Italian design by Pininfarina, this MGB prototype never saw production, and seems to be the only remaining model made. If you’re interested, watch out for it coming up for auction at Bonhams this year. Guide price is £35-45,000.

Purchasing the rights to Colin Chapman’s Lotus 7 in 1973, Caterham have never looked back. Whilst there is much fun to be had in building a Caterham Kit from scratch, the real fun comes in driving this ultimate road and track car.
- Morris 8
Whilst the Morris 8 Tourer will not get you anywhere in a hurry, it is perfect for that Sunday Drive and great to take in the sights and sounds of summer at a leisurely pace.
- Fiat Dino Spider
What a great way to enjoy the summer sun than in one of Italy’s finest, but underrated, convertibles. The Dino exudes style, flair and elegance in abundance and would be perfect for a trip down to the South of France. Just make sure you have classic car insurance.
