By Lancaster Insurance Services |
3rd March, 2016
With the ‘season opener’ a few days away, we’ve put our top ten reasons to visit the show - just in case you need a little more persuading!
1. Classic beauties as far as the eye can see!
Over 700 of the finest concours condition beauties in the country, as well as some fabulous restorations will be displayed over the weekend. You’ll see barn finds alongside million pound vintage supercars and everything in between. And if you’re feeling charitable, why not take a ‘Dream Ride’ with Sporting Bears.
2. Over 350 exhibitors
Dealers, restorers, insurers and even this spring’s largest indoor autojumble, the show has all the must-have products for 2016. Incredible displays from specialist restorers Aston Workshop, Design 911, and TRGB and as many classic spares companies as you can shake a vintage gearstick at.
A dream for any restorer and enthusiast!
3. Car club heaven
120 classic motoring clubs including the MG Owners’ Club will be in attendance, so if you’re a classic car owner or thinking of becoming one, you’ll find all the specialist knowledge you’re likely to need. Also, if you’re feeling competitive you can watch them battling it out in the ‘Club Challenge’ competition on the Practical Classics Live Stage!
4. The UK's biggest barn find collection
There’ll be around 25 hidden treasures, all found in barns, garages and even at the bottom of the garden.
5. Restorer of the Year - who will be crowned the winner?
If you’re particular about who works on your classic car and only trust the crème de la crème, this year’s show plays host to the ten finalists in the Classic Car Restorer of the Year competition. Come along and get the chance to vote for your favourite; because the overall winner will be crowned Restorer of the Year on Sunday 6 March.
Lancaster Insurance will also be displaying their own project, Margo, a 1969 Mini Super Deluxe restoration. She’ll be on the Lancaster stand, with her engine out and being worked on before your very eyes by the talented bunch at the MG Owners’ Club. Once fully restored, Margo will be sold at auction at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
6. The Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership Stand
The display includes some beautiful restored cars, with some incredible stories! The cars will be exhibited in the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership display, showcasing the dedication, enthusiasm and passion our classic car community has. A 1952 Humber Pullman Limousine, 1976 Citroen Amu Super Saloon, a stunning VW Camper Van and a 1960 Austin Healy are just a few of the private entries.
7. Silverstone Auctions
Silverstone Auctions sold over £2million worth of project and classic cars at the show last year. If you’re thinking about selling a classic car, modern sports car, motorcycle, or automobilia, Silverstone Auctions are your first port of call. And if you’re thinking of buying, come on down!
8. The Discovery Channel Live Stage!
This year’s schedule sees Practical Classics editor and classic car legend, Danny Hopkins, and his team restoring Del & Rodney’s Reliant Regal Supervan III from the Only Fools and Horses episode 'Heroes and Villains' – a task they aim to complete in just 48 hours. And in conjunction with Discovery Channel there’s an opportunity for some celeb-spotting with celebrity interviews; and even a game show or two.
9. Epic Restorations
Epic Restorations are back to showcase the remarkable skills of Britain's leading restorers, as they create the centrepiece of the Classic Cars Zone. Each Epic Restoration tells the story of the professional craftsmen who bring their skills together to transform a derelict classic into a gleaming jewel of perfection.
10. National Car Club Awards, new for 2016!
And finally... the introduction of the National Car Club Awards! An event which looks to recognise classic car clubs and members, with a variety of awards being given on the night!
Hope to see you there!
