This month, for Club of the Month July 2016, we spotlight the Mk2 Golf Owners Club: a club dedicated to the preservation of all variants of the Volkswagen Golf & Jetta Mk2.
While the original MK1 Golf, in GTI form, is widely regarded as the blueprint for all hot hatches, VW’s successor is fast gathering its own cult following.
With so many fans of this fantastic car it was only a matter of time before a club was formed to cater for like-minded owners to share their love of all things Mk2.
The Mk2 Golf Owners Club has so much to offer to the discerning owner. Firstly, if you’re thinking of buying one, the club’s ‘Buyer’s Guide’ tells you what to look for, from bodywork to mechanicals and, importantly, how much to pay. Check out the ‘Cars for Sale’ section as you might just find what you’re looking for there.
Once you’ve bought your Golf or Jetta it’s time for the fun part, enjoying it, and what better way than to start by joining the forum! The forum is the heart of the club and where you can go to meet fellow owners and friends in your area and beyond. It’s also a great place to find out what’s going on in the community and where.
Beyond the forum there is a club shop where you can purchase that all important VW merchandise including hoodies, mugs and even show tickets & accommodation.
One of the best parts of being a club member is having access to technical help should your vehicle develop a fault and there is no shortage of volunteers within the club that can steer you in the right direction.
There’s even a ‘Car of the month’ section where you can showcase your pride and joy to other club members.
Don’t forget the club sponsors who can offer you discounts on a range of products and services from car parts to insurance discounts. Lancaster Insurance is proud to be an insurance partner of the club and can offer member discounts of up to 25%.
Whilst joining the club forum is free, there is an advantage of being a paid member of the club. The cost of a paid membership is just £5 and will give you additional discounts with suppliers and for shows, whilst providing the club with valuable revenue.
