Wow what a weekend! A team from Lancaster Insurance visited Santa Pod Raceway for TriumFest and Retro Show LIVE on the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of July for a celebration of all things Triumph!

Revelling in the 50th anniversary of both the raceway and the Triumph GT6, there were over sixty GT6’s there in celebration of the anniversary. The action-packed event was crammed with a huge number of retro cars, bikes, scooters and lorries!

In commemoration of the 50th birthday of the GT6, hosted by the Triumph Sports Six Club, Lancaster Insurance were also lucky enough to display on their stand one of the finest GT6 restorations ever seen. She proved extremely popular with the public who couldn’t contain their enthusiasm for a car which had been completely rebuilt, and with an engine so clean you could eat your dinner off it! An amazing sight for those GT6 fans who hadn’t seen such a fine example before.

Visitors were able to race their own vehicles during Santa Pod’s ‘Run What You Brung’ competition! People witnessed a huge array of weird and wonderful vehicles roaring down the raceway drag strip, with highlights including a VW camper, a matte-black Capri and a Renault Alpine to name but a few! There were also epic drag demonstrations from Wild Bunch Nostalgia Drag Racing and FireForce.

Lastly, visitors were lucky enough to see FireForce 5, a jet dragster powered by a 10,000HP helicopter engine. It beat its previous record by a staggering 10mph, reaching 300mph across the finish line of the ¼ mile strip!

All in all a fabulous celebratory weekend of Triumph and Retro cars, with the many visitors in their element.
