'Revving’ up for the New Year after a successful 2015!

The New Year is upon us and we’ve celebrated another year drawing to a close. 2015 has been an incredible year for all of us at Lancaster and our Operations Director, Richard Morley, looks back on some highlights:

This year has been outstanding! People keep asking me ‘what has been your highlight of 2015?’ but it’s hard to single one out as there have been so many.

It has been a really varied year for us and I’m proud of all the activities we’ve been able to support, including the MG Owner’s Club Race Championship 2015, with our own Martin Wills racing hard and tearing up the track. We also extended our association with MX-5s by sponsoring Brian Chandler’s BC Cars Motorsport team in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship. Brian went on to win his category, with an incredible nine race victories to his name in the Championship!

In the spring we triumphed in the history books by achieving a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title with the ‘largest parade of MGs and it was a truly remarkable day! After four tense laps of Rockingham circuit, we were finally declared official Guinness World Record holders. It was a pleasure to see so many MG owners enjoying this unusual challenge and the day will be etched in my memory forever!

We teamed up with two worthwhile charities during the year. We became the official insurance partner of the Sporting Bears Motor Club, helping them continue to do their wonderful work in raising over £1.5m for children’s charities across Britain. We’ve also been supporting Prostate Cancer UK and are thrilled to be taking on our first restoration of a beautiful 1969 Morris Mini Deluxe, with all proceeds from her sale going to the charity. You helped us to name her Margo and you can follow her journey at www.findminiahome.com or in Classics Monthly.

And finally in November we once again headlined the beauty inspired Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show. The show had circa 69,000 attendees for the three-day event which showcased around 2,500 classic cars and bikes. If you couldn’t make it, or just want to relive the best bits from the show, from the ‘Miss World’ contest to the people, the clubs and the stands, you can re-live all the action here.

2015 has been a sensational year and I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store. We wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2016!
