Hot Hatch – Heaven or Hell?

Hot hatches! Love them or hate them? If you drove a hot hatch in the early to mid-90’s you were frowned upon by large sections of the motoring public and called a ‘Barry Boy’ for your loud music and outlandish modifications.

Move forward 20 years and the tide has turned.  No longer are you labelled for your taste in cars but instead looked upon with joy and envy by a new breed of classic enthusiasts.  The hot hatch is King and, as can be seen by the recent sales of a Series 1 Escort RS Turbo for just over £60,000, extremely desirable! At that price, you’re going to need classic car insurance to give you the right cover.

We’re taking a look back at the best and worst of the 70’s and 80’s hot hatches and we’d love to know, which models are your idea of heaven and which are hell?
