Who will be the Ace of Clubs?

As the 2016 call for entries goes out, the second of our car club special features sees Richard Morley, Operations Director at Lancaster Insurance, reflecting on the importance of the Classic & Sports Car Club Awards, and why you should enter.

For many people ‘The Classic & Sports Car Club Awards’ are the culmination of a year of hard work and dedication, with enthusiasts from all four corners of the country, and often further afield, converging on the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show in Birmingham to celebrate their achievements.

Now in their 18thyear, the Awards bring together a diverse and eclectic group of classic car owners whose passion and dedication to the movement make it the special event that it is, and this is one of the reasons we continue to sponsor the awards.

Ace Of Clubs

Award winners in 2015 included every kind of club possible, from the Military Vehicle Trust to the Transit Van Club and the Swallow Doretti Register. The awards cater for all clubs, big and small, and it’s always great to see the variety of entries the event receives.

The breadth of categories also helps to make the awards the highlight of the calendar. We’re now starting to see more and more modern classic clubs and enthusiast groups entering in categories such as ‘Best Club Website’ and ‘Use of Social Media’ – both burgeoning and essential areas as clubs start to encourage younger members to join.

Beside the personal satisfaction of winning such a prestigious award there are some real, tangible benefits for the winning clubs. Aside from the notoriety, they can help to improve credibility and media exposure, both important tools for recruiting new members and having a bigger impact in the industry.

The awards are a vital part of the classic car movement, and at grass roots level among the smaller clubs and enthusiast groups they’re a fantastic way to shine and grow your membership.

Lancaster Insurance is proud to have been supporting the awards since 2010and we’ve just signed up for a further three to demonstrate our support for car clubs young and old, big and small. After all, we used to be a car club ourselves, and maintaining this heritage, we think, keeps us at the forefront of the classic car insurance industry.

This year’s awards are set to be the biggest and best yet, and for me personally are a great opportunity to chat to people who have a real passion for our industry and ensure its longevity. So entries are now open, and with only one allowed per club per award, why not talk to your club’s senior official about entering and your club could be in the spotlight, come November!
